Ghanaian dancehall musician Epixode has undergone a whole new transformation of his public appearance and you’ll love it. The dreadlocks and Jamaican-style looks have been relegated to the background for an Afrocentric one inspired by the late legendary Nigerian singer, Fela Kuti.
He now walks with face paintings and dotted lines on his arms as was noted of Fela.
Epixode said, “What really brought about this brand is, we all started this musical thing based on the fact that we are following our passion. Now it has moved from the normal Epixode at home to a worldwide brand now so we need to be really defined.”
The ‘Ogbooni’ hitmaker narrated to Ghanaweb what necessitated this change of identity. He said, ““Last year in Zimbabwe when I was playing the African International Carnival, they couldn’t tell the difference between the Ghanaian dancehall artiste and the Jamaican’s because we were all doing the same thing, so I was actually walking in the shadows of the Jamaicans and I decided to add something different to my brand.”
