One of the amazing things I have ever found in scripture was to have found that God has given us everything we need for life and to live a godly life.
When we have struggles with sin and certain issues in life, it is very easy for us to think that God reserved some things so that when we need them we can approach Him again. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “According as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”.
Wow! Everything we need in order to express the ‘zoe’ (God life) and be holy or pious has already been entrusted to us. It would be irresponsible for a father not to provide for his children. Our heavenly Father is not like that, He has provided all that we need to make it in this life and beyond. It is not some of the things or most of them, not even almost but all things. “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace” (John 1:16) NKJV.
His power is divine; no man can resist its influence or expression. God is a giver. What do you need that God has not already provided. The breakthrough you have been praying for has already been provided. You may ask, “How”.
By His death on the cross, He made provision for all our healing, financial prosperity, holiness, righteousness etc. Alvin Slaughter will say, “He’s already provided. Everything we need, He’s already provided”. As we experience hardships in life, it is most probable that we will scarcely say that we have all things that pertain to life and godliness.
We have received fully from the abundance of His grace provisions. He has given us great and exceeding promises through the knowledge of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us on Calvary’s tree. It is not because of any special thing that we did for God but it is just by grace that we receive the gifts and riches He has given us in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2: 8, 9).
Once we come to conformity with the truth of God’s grace, it makes our redemption even more beyond price. One may be asking, “If God has given us all things, why can’t I experience them”? 2 Peter 1:3 makes us understand that it is “through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”.
Our ability to lay hold on the promises of God for our lives is dependent on the fact that we have knowledge of our father. How many of us can confidently go to our earthly father when we have no relationship with him? The promises are written and stored in scripture.
It will take knowledge; knowing what has been given to us and rightly assessing them. SO, it is true that God has given us everything and it is also true that through knowledge we can be able to appropriate them.
Before God created man, He made every provision necessary to keep man to experience life (zoe) and live a godly life. Remember that God put in place everything you needed in this life before He finally made you and breathed into you the breath of life to live the God-life. You have all things but you can only access them through Christ Jesus.
No ‘jujuman’ or ‘unbeliever’ can mediate your blessing. Jesus Christ is the only medium by which we can access knowledge of God. John the Apostle rightly said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven” (John 3:27) NKJV.
