Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda better known as Mzvee was born on June 23,1992. She was born in Accra to Ernest Hamenoo-Kpeda, a businessman, and Florence Hamenoo-Kpeda, a caterer. She has three other siblings.
Vera started her basic schooling at St. Martin de Porres inside Dansom and continued to St. Mary’s Senior High School where she was the girls entertainment prefect , she furthered her education at Ghana Telecom University where she studied Business Administration.
Coming up as a musician, she started with a group called D3 and they released hit songs dubbed ‘Good Girls Gone Bad’ and ‘Gyani Gyani’ in 2012 before they splitted due educational commitments of the young girls in 2013. Mzvee who didn’t give up on music in her early life is now a Ghanaian afropop, dancehall and R&B artiste.
Singed unto Lynx Entertainment, her solo album had most hits such as Borkor Borkor, Natural Girl and Dancehall Queen. She was crowned winner of the “New Artiste of the Year” award at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards. She has featured on songs with top stars like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, VVIP, Patoranking and Yemi Alade from Nigeria.
She is regarded as one of the stars of Ghana’s dancehall scene and received the award for ‘Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2015 Ghanaian dancehall awards, BASS awards.
Her trademark natural African hair and hit single ‘Natural Girl’ has made her an inspiration to young girls across Africa who want to celebrate their natural look. Mzvee’s breakthrough landed her nomination in the ‘Best International New Artist’ category at the BET Awards 2015.
She has performed on most platforms both locally and internationally and she is among female top stars in Ghana who are taking Ghana far.
