Dancehall star Stonebwoy has slammed his record label Zylofon Media for not ‘consulting’ him before Shatta Wale was signed. Reports are that the Ashaiman based singer felt that as the main dancehall artiste on the label, he should have been kept in the loop by the label’s decision to sign his rival.
Rumours have been rife that Stonebwoy wants out of the label since Shatta Wale signed. And this was partially confirmed when he refused to perform under the Zylofon banner at the University of Ghana this week.
This led to a fracas between the A/R of Zylofon Media, Bulldog and Stonebwoy’s entourage over a car supposedly offered to the music star at the Paloma Hotel in Accra.
Fellow Zylofon signee Kumi Guitar believes Stonebwoy is being selfish with the way he is behaving. He said, “Stonebwoy can go higher than he is [in the industry]. If he is not comfortable, he should come speak with Management. Before he was signed, there was Shatta Wale. No one informed me [Kumi Guitar] any artiste will be signed on Zylofon [before he was signed]”.
Kumi urged Stonebwoy to desist from dragging the name of Zylofon in the mud as he isn’t the boss of the label to informed on every decision.
He added, “Stonebwoy is not a shareholder to take decisions in the company. I am doing what I am supposed to do. I want his fans to know Zylofon is not a bad company. It is the notion that we don’t know what we are doing. He should address every issue he has with management”.
