This little girl you see is certainly a survivor after doctors said she would not be able to survive this rare health condition. Virsaviya Borun was born with a rare health condition called Pentalogy of Cantrell. In simple terms, she was born with her heart outside her body.
Pentalogy of Cantrell is a health condition that stops the rib cage from growing to cover the heart, thus exposing heart which is only covered by a thin layer of skin.
When Virsaviya was born, doctors said she wouldn’t survive but 8 years on, she’s still alive and living a normal life. More than 90 percent of babies born with this condition die, but Bathsheba has beaten the odds and survived even when doctors didn’t believe she would.
Virsaviya’s parents however still have fears and have moved her to the United States for surgery. Pentalogy of Cantrell occurs in 1/200,000 births, and doctors are still shocked she’s still alive up to this stage.
